International pop icon Rihanna has created a storm on social media yet again. A few days ago, Rihanna had hit the headlines after she questioned why people aren’t talking about the farmers’ protests in India. Her post received a mixed response, and while many hailed her for drawing international attention to the issue, some slammed her for interfering in India’s internal matters. Now, Rihanna once again sparked controversy over her latest Instagram post.
Rihanna posed topless by the pool in her latest Instagram snap. In the picture, she was seen wearing just her satin shorts, and a few jewelry pieces and accessories. A few people on social media pointed out that she was wearing a Ganesha neckpiece around her neck. The shoot was for her lingerie brand Savage X Fenty, and she faced massive backlash for wearing the Ganesha pendant around her neck.
While one social media user wrote, “wearing that necklace, which depicts a hindu diety, is clearly cultural appropriation. my culture is not your aesthetic,” another user wrote, “Super offensive wearing Ganesha like that. My first god, a holy sentiment to millions of people celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi every year. Sorry RiRi, you disappointed me and others.”
